Background
Accelerated Equity Insights works with university admissions offices to enhance and monitor communication practices, aiming to reduce bias and support more diverse incoming classes. AEI needed a centralized system that could consolidate all admissions data, evaluate critical variables, and surface insights aligned with DEI principles. Their goal was to move institutions away from scattered spreadsheets and manual analysis toward a guided digital workflow that reveals patterns, highlights potential bias, and strengthens decision-making. This new platform required clarity, nuance, and adaptability to support complex institutional needs.
Challenges
The platform needed to integrate numerous data sources into a single centralized database for each institution. AEI required tools for filtering and analyzing sensitive variables while maintaining a thoughtful, compliant user experience. Reporting posed its own challenges: the system had to generate customizable statistical outputs that allowed admissions teams to identify bias and track improvements over time. Balancing usability with the complexity of academic workflows was essential to ensuring that teams could extract meaningful insights without overwhelming their process.
Outcome
The final product provides institutions with a robust admissions analytics platform that consolidates data, filters complex variables, and surfaces actionable insights. Advanced reporting tools enable teams to generate statistical visualizations that reveal potential bias and support DEI-aligned decision-making. Our engagement helped AEI secure a $120k pre-seed round and positioned them to serve 350 potential clients. With a long-term vision of expanding into housing, financial aid, and advising, AEI is now equipped with a scalable product foundation that supports their mission to build more diverse college communities.
